my philosophy / approach
Authentic, honest, artful + real. My biggest piece of advice I give my clients is to be fully present during their session. Don’t worry about the wind blowing in your hair, the sun in your eyes, or your kids being silly — these are all beautiful pieces of your story that you will cherish one day.
My hope is that our time together can hold space for your family to simply be together. Enjoy each other’s company, without any distractions. Play all the fun games with your kids, look at them fully and deeply, appreciate every detail of their ever-changing features.
When you allow yourself to relax and joyfully exist in the moment, I promise your photos will in turn be a true & honest representation of your family.
what will our session feel like?
My biggest goal is for your session to be enjoyable for you and your family. I keep things very laid back and comfortable. I don’t force your kids to look at me and say “cheese” — quite the opposite, actually. I typically do a lot of observing, noticing all the quirks + gestures that make your kids unique.
I strike a balance between documentary style and gentle prompts. If I see a lovely patch of light, I will place your family in that spot and see what magic unfolds. Kids’ ideas and imaginations are so fun and beautiful, I love to see what they come up with instead of trying to tell them what to do.
We focus on your real connection as a family. We document how you are together, naturally, without too many posing moments. When we hold space, be fully present, and allow kids to be kids — that’s when the magic moments happen.
