LIFE LATELY
WE'VE BEEN TAKING IT SLOW, SPENDING A LOT OF TIME TOGETHER AS A FAMILY.
MOST MORNINGS CONSIST OF A WALK TO THE BEACH OR PLAYGROUND.
These slow mornings at home have meant so much to me. After working very long hours as a full-time photographer & flats stylist for the past 3 years, I am thankful for so much quality time with Max. We usually start our day with Weet-Bix for breakfast (a kiwi fave of Tim's) and then build the coolest, windiest train track we can. Then we head to a playground or the beach if the weather is nice. It's also incredible having my twin sister only 30 minutes away. We had a sleepover on Friday night and all three boys loved it (until bedtime when pretty much everybody had some type of meltdown haha!) We're still staying with my in-laws for the time being. Housing around Auckland is very expensive, so we're doing our best to save up and hopefully get into our own place soon. Although it's very nice to have in-house babysitters who are always willing to watch Max so Tim & I can go on dates! It's been a while since we've had such frequent dates, so we're definitely taking advantage of that.
While we're still finding our bearings with life in New Zealand, I feel like we're finally getting into our groove and finding our routine. It will take some time to feel like this is 100% our home, but so far we're off to a very fun start. And it helps that technology is so amazing and I can call / Face Time my friends and family so easily. When Tim and I first started dating, we had to use calling cards (do those even exist anymore?!) and even then, our phone bills were upwards of $500 one month!! I'm so, so thankful this isn't the case anymore or we'd be broke haha!
And if anyone has recommendations for cool spots near Auckland (kid-friendly or not!), send them my way; we're constantly looking for new places to check out.
