Caravan Motherhood Session on Film
Caravan Motherhood Session on Film
card games, sweet snuggles, a retro caravan, a bonfire, and lots & lots of fun
during this family session in Auckland, NZ!
When you find the perfect little vintage caravan on AirBnb, you jump on the opportunity to photograph a motherhood session there! I packed up my favourite film stocks - Portra 400 & Gold 200, grabbed a deck of vintage cards and headed to this sweet property on the Hibiscus Coast, near Auckland.
Having the kids focus on the card game was a great way to capture their authentic, genuine smiles.
If kids realize they have a camera pointed at them, one of two things usually happens: they clam up and get shy OR they pull a funny face. These boys were so silly, so funny faces would have been allllll over this gallery had they not had a distraction of some sort. Don’t get me wrong - I LOVE to embrace the silly nature of kids; it’s so magical. But I also know it’s important to document their real smiles and giggles too.
I had them play a game of Slap Jack, tell their mom a secret that only she could know, and let them explore the caravan and property a bit. It was an absolute blast & the light in the caravan was SO GOOD (I was nervous about that!!)
I love bringing these creative session ideas to life for my clients. It’s so much fun to dream up something special for my families - a way to bottle up the season they’re in. I have so many ideas for sessions this summer! If you’re wanting a newborn, maternity or family photoshoot in Auckland - I’d love to chat!
